About Tatiana

Hi there! My name is Tatiana, and I'd love to introduce you to Tatiana's Tiny Zoo.

My Story

My passion for animals started at a very young age – I was always the kid picking up worms and catching toads in the garden! I hope that my love for the world around us will inspire young kids and adults alike. You can’t love what you don’t know and I want to help everyone get to know the natural world around them.

My Background

During high school and college, I volunteered at local nature centers – spending countless hours outdoors learning about native plants and animals while helping the dedicated staff preserve our local ecosystems.

In 2019, I graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee with a Bachelor’s degree in Conservation and Environmental Science, along with minors in Biology and Geography (needless to say, the Earth is what I loved learning about the most!).

My journey has included diverse internships, from wildlife rehabilitation to working at the Milwaukee County Zoo. I even traveled to Israel to study the unique animal populations of the Aravah Desert.

These experiences fueled my passion for wildlife, but it wasn’t until I became a Naturalist that I discovered my true calling – public education! Sharing the wonders of the natural world with others has been the most rewarding part of my journey.

Teaching Others

My position teaching at Hawthorn Glen Nature Center opened my eyes to the importance of getting people interested in the natural world around them. I spent hundreds of hours developing programs and curriculum geared from pre-K all the way to high schoolers, and teaching programs about the Great Lakes, Wisconsin Reptiles and many more!
